When are my property taxes due? Property Tax billings are due four (4) times per year –
March 29, June 29, August 29, and November 29.  If taxes are
not paid by the due date, 1 1/4% penalty is charged on the first
day of default if unpaid and every month after until the payment is made
in full.
How can I pay my property
taxes?
Property taxes may be paid by cash or cheque at the Municipal Office.
Payment by credit card or by debit is not accepted.  We accept post dated
cheques for payment on the due date.  The Municipal Office has a drop box for after hour payment drop off.  All payments must be received at the office, on or before the due date, to be exempt from penalty.  Mail in, post marked date, is not accepted as payment received on time if received on due date.  You may pay by internet through your banking institution.  When entering your account number please remove the 3818 from your roll number.  You can also pay your property tax bill at your banking institution.
When are my water/sewer billings due? Oil Springs residents are billed four (4) times a year.  Water billings are due January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15.  If the billing is unpaid by the due date, a one time charge of 10% is charged on the first day of default.  Water/Sanitary Sewer Fee Schedule Here
How can I pay My water/sewer billing? Water/Sewer may be paid by cash or cheque at the Municipal Office.

How do I contact the Municipal Office/Staff after hours if I have an emergency? The after hour municipal emergency contact phone number is 519-339-8106.  A public works employee will evaluate the situation and contact further personnel if required.
Where do I get a bluebox, garbage tote/bin or a compost container? Blueboxes can be picked up at the municipal office for $5.  Residents can purchase garbage totes/bins from any local department/hardware store. All garbage bags must be tagged.  Tags are $1 each and are available at the municipal office.  Compost containers can be purchased through the municipality.  The cost is whatever the cost is from the manufacturer.
What do I do if my garbage/recycling is
not picked up?
If your recycling/garbage is not picked up – Was it at the curbside by 7 am?  Do you have the correct day or item to be collected?  Does your garbage have a tag on it?  If none of these answers apply to you, you can call the municipal office at 519-834-2939  If any of the above answers apply to you please click here to report a missed collection with Bluewater Recycling Association or call the Municipal Office.  Go to Resident Information at the top of this page and click on Garbage & Recycling for the 2016-2017 calendar.
How do I dispose of Household Hazardous Waste Material not accepted by Bluewater Recycling Association? Household hazardous waste material can be taken to Clean Harbors Canada Inc., 4090 Telfer Road, Sarnia, Ontario.  If you need any additional information about Household Hazardous Waste Days, please contact the County of Lambton at (519) 845-0801 or 1-866-324-6912 or visit Lambton County Household Hazardous Waste Services are paid for by the County of Lambton.

How do I get a dog tag for my dog? Dog tags are sold at the municipal office and you must purchase a dog tag every year for your dog.  Please purchase your dog tag prior to May 1 or the fee for the tag is doubled and put on your property taxes.  Fees for tags is as follows:  First neutered male or spayed female is $15, each additional neutered or spayed dog is $30.  First non neutered male or non spayed dog $45, each additional non neutered or no spayed is $60.  Please refer to our Dog License Bylaw for any further details or contact the municipal office.
 Who do I contact regarding burning brush? Please contact the Fire Chief of the Enniskillen/Oil Springs Fire Department.
How do I obtain a building permit? Building permits can be obtained through the County of Lambton at 789 Broadway Street Wyoming, Ontario 519-845-0801 or click below to obtain the building permit.  Once the building permit is filled out you can either take it to the County of Lambton or drop it off at the municipal office.

How do I file a complaint? The Village of Oil Springs is open to taking complaints regarding Village business ie: sanitary sewer, water, drainage, roads, property taxes, water bills, fire, dogs, and property standards.  If you wish to file a complaint, please click here to obtain the form.  Once you fill out the form, you can drop it off to the municipal office during municipal hours or in the drop box outside the municipal office if it is after hours.
Who do I call to report a street light that is out? If you notice a street light that is out of power, please contact the municipal office and we will contact Bluewater Power.  Please note for cost effectiveness:  Bluewater Power will only come to repair an outage when two (2) outages or more outages are reported to the municipality.
